An open letter of transparency
We Were Burglarized

On July 18, 2025, in the dead of night, someone stole our inventory—spools of gold and stainless steel chains, baguettes, pearls, and years of supplies that go into readying many of your orders. An attack that happened to be one of several against me, my family, and Sucré Couture since last fall.
I've poured my blood, sweat, and tears into Sucré Couture and its sister brands for nearly two decades. The mission exceeds simply selling an 80s and 90s jewelry aesthetic. Sucré Couture is a visual love letter to Black femininity, matriarchy, and culture.
When I conceptualized the brand in 2010, while daydreaming during a casual summer in New Orleans heat, fresh out of undergrad, and expecting my firstborn, I knew I wanted to start a business that felt authentic to me and my heritage. Jewelry was the best way to pay my respects to my family's matriarchal lineage and Black culture, for which I display deep love and admiration. So when I spent my last $79 to purchase a small inventory and spin up a humble Wix website, there was no stopping me.
I stayed up many late nights, nursing an infant, taking product photos in handmade cardboard lightboxes, constructing jewelry prototypes, and packing orders for nearby customers. Despite financial challenges and the temporary feeling of defeat that gives us entrepreneurs incredibly thick skin and higher tolerance for adaptability, I kept at it. Nothing would stand in the way of my other baby—Sucré Couture.
And as the years flew by, the mission became louder, and more of you drew closer, creating the tight-knit, family-like community I am honestly in awe of every day. I'll never forget being at a wedding in Memphis, Tennessee, and meeting a Sucré Girl near the dance floor. She thanked me for "all we do for Black women and the community." My heart melted.
While this is a moment that would usually require much privacy, I owe it to you—my supporters—the honest, human truth for how difficult this time has been because you all are affected by the perpetrators' envious and dishonorable behaviors.
During this moment, we at Sucré Couture ask for your extended grace in receiving orders and patience with communication. We are working as swiftly as possible to continue operations because, truthfully, the Sucré Couture mission is much brighter than the perpetrator's hate and future.
To the perpetrator who committed this atrocious crime, you will be brought to your knees—legally and spiritually. Furthermore, you might’ve stolen away with jewelry, but it’s now tainted with your negative spirit and useless in your possession. You can steal tangible goods, but not the intelligence, creativity, and stories that make up the fabric of Sucré Couture’s DNA.
To the beautiful Sucré Couture community, we move forward with immense fortitude and love, and care for ourselves and you all.
And so it is,
