The Story Behind the Brand

So I was seven months pregnant working at AT&T in New Orleans, LA — standing on my feet and daydreaming my next move.

I had just completed my undergraduate education at Xavier University of Louisiana. My then-boyfriend, now husband, and I were planning on making our pilgrimage back home to California by the end of the year.

Although I had just earned a new Bachelor’s Degree in Mass Communication and needed to enter the workforce, I knew entrepreneurship was a part of my calling.

Off the rip, I wanted to start a brand that allowed me to exercise creativity and reflect and fulfill my style. And considering how fashion was at the core of my childhood memories and growth into the woman I am, I realized a jewelry brand was for me.

See, my mother, grandmother, and great aunt were bling and perfect scarlet red manicure queens. Gold layered necklaces. Fingers adorned with rubies, sapphires, and peridots. Diamond stud earrings and gold hoops effortlessly stacked. And sometimes it was just a simple jade pendant piece for a store run.

No matter what jewelry and nail combination they paraded, one thing was for sure: it was timeless, bold, powerful, ultra-feminine, and badass.

By February 14, 2011, two months into my move back home, I decided to launch Sucré Couture. I registered my business, paid a graphic designer for a logo, and bought my first inventory lineup of jewelry with just 76 dollars.

Fast forward to almost ten years later, Sucré Couture is still here — thriving — serving you the same timeless nostalgic vibes, while representing sexy edge and feminine power.

So welcome again, Sucré girl. Let’s live it.
